Mahatma Gandhi, the man behind the revolution of India's independence, was born on October 2nd, 1869. During his lifetime, Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated by some in India, but it was only declared a national holiday in 1979. Every year, people brightly commemorate this day by organizing lively processions, rallies, seminars, prayers and other events to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi.
Mahatma Gandhi always chose the path of non-violence and peace and thus left an indelible mark in the eyes of both admirers and critics. We will always remember and honour him for his service to our nation and continue to embrace his legacy and teachings. Thus, Gandhiji’s birthday, also known as Gandhi Jayanti, will continue to be celebrated for many generations to come.
