Big cities are very attractive places to live in for many reasons, but along with their benefits come a certain number of problems. Overpopulation is a major issue for many big cities due to the influx of people coming in for the opportunities and attractions the city offers. This overcrowding leads to various issues such as traffic congestion, increased air pollution, longer commuting time, extended waiting time at public services, and shortages of public housing. The demand for basic utilities like electricity, water, gas, etc. is usually much higher than in smaller cities, leading to strain on the infrastructure as well as higher utility bills.
The rising cost of living is also an issue in big cities, as the supply of available housing is usually lower than the demand, leading to skyrocketing rental prices. The competition in the job market is also higher, pushing salaries into a steep upward spiral. This, in turn, leads to an exacerbated feeling of stress and anxiety among those living in cities, often accompanied by lacking leisure or recreational activities.
Finally, living in a big city makes it difficult to establish genuine and meaningful relationships with other people. The hustle and bustle of the city can make it hard to maintain a healthy social life, as families often live far apart, and individuals are confined to their own busy schedule. This social issue can take an emotional toll on many individuals in the long run.
